It was like we were all best friends after knowing each other for a week . That was kind of the difference , is that that was a very commercial job . Everybody was just enjoying themselves so much . Not that I don ’ t enjoy myself with all of these amazing jobs that I ’ m doing now . It ’ s just very different . A lot of my work when I was younger was this smiley bright , this like lightbulb happiness . Now , they ’ re kind of capturing the more serious , high fashion side of me . But , Abercrombie , it was the beginning of me wanting to really pursue modeling . After that job , like it was just kind of life changing . And the photographer , Bruce Weber , his work is absolutely amazing and getting the chance to work one on one with him was really special . And the people I met there . Just everything about it was an amazing experience . Just very different from what I ’ m doing now , but they ’ re both incredible . Working both sides is just incredible to think about and I ’ m extremely luck to do both .
I really want you to just go through , to you , some tips for the kids that are going to read this magazine , and the moms – kind of some do ’ s and don ’ ts , just some things to expect , do whatever , anything you can share to help a young girl trying to get into the modeling and acting industry .
Well , I think we can start from the beginning . I can tell you the first step if you ’ re trying to break into the industry is to find an agency . And finding an agency is definitely the most difficult part . Once you ’ re with an agency , then the rest is just you ’ re enjoying the ride , but finding an agency is really difficult . One thing that I can say very generally is you should never have to pay an agency . You should never have to pay them anything to start off . If you do have to pay something , then it ’ s probably not the right agency for you – it ’ s probably not that legitimate . That ’ s a very important thing . When finding your agency , don ’ t be discouraged right off the bat . Everybody ’ s different and everybody has a different look and a different style . So you just kind of have to find a place that ’ s right for you and a place where they love you and want to promote you or your daughter or your son . I think that , as girls , natural is better . For girls my age , for girls younger than me , just be yourself . Don ’ t try to doll yourself up . Don ’ t try to make yourself look different than how you naturally are . Because what I have even learned for myself is that people want to see a blank slate . When you go into castings and when you go into agencies , they want to see somebody who is ready to be molded into whatever a client or a designer wants you to be like . So , being a blank slate , being open to whatever an agent or designer wants you to do , it ’ s very important . Dress the part . If you have a casting or an audition , do some research on it .
