Spring Sports Amped for States Baseball, Golf and Lacrosse all have shots at titles By Charlie Simpson Chieftian Staff Baseball After a solid year regular season (21- 12), the Warriors lost to Catholic Central in the Catholic League semi-fi nals, 4-2. They open the State Playoffs on June 1 at Warrior Park. Junior Smith Casper says, “The beginning of the season was fi lled with strong competi- tion in the Catholic League. Now that that is over, I think that though competition will help us make a deep run in the playoffs.” This Warrior team has a lot of pure talent and great coach- ing. Hopefully, the Warriors bring home some hardware. “Our only goal for this year is to go undefeated,” Junior Mason Everly says, “and, so far, we have accomplished that goal, but we still have work to do. Our goal as a team for the remainder of the season stays the same: Undefeated. fi nals May 31 vs. the winner of Haslett and Lansing Catholic in Howell. Track and Field Lacrosse After losing in the State Finals last year, the Lacrosse team has had a sea- son that we all expected so far: Perfect. Hopefully, they will remain that way for the remainder of their playoff run. Onwuzurike will be running the 100m and 200m, and Shaya will be running the 1600m against the state’s best runners on June 1 at East Kentwood. “Our team has had a good season,” said Onwuzurike. “A lot of different runners contrib- uted when they were needed.
