GAMEDAY

You can never go wrong with that.
As I wait
for my mom
to fi nish get-
ting ready,
I fi nally get
into the car
and take the
trip out to
my cousins’
house. I
strap in my
ear buds
and get my
pregame
playlist go-
ing; nothing
gets me more in the zone than music.
As I arrive at my cousins’ house, I
dive right into the appetizers, which
is like the pregame. As I take a look at
the counter, I go for one of everything,
from your typical cheese and crackers
to deviled eggs. You gotta try them
all.

While the appetizers are cleared, it’s
fi nally game time. The table is set and
it’s time to leave it all out on the fi eld.
I treat it like this meal will be my last.
I start by loading my plate up with
turkey, both
white and
dark meat.
Next, I go for
the mashed
potatoes,
which is my
favorite part
of the meal.
I scoop up
a mountain
of them and
then top it off
with some
gravy.
I look
down at my plate and realize I still
have half a plate to fi ll up. I then go
for the stuffi ng and pile some onto my
plate. The last thing I go for is some
vegetables. While I know this may be
surprising, I do like to eat vegetables
with my Thanksgiving dinner.
After clearing my plate, I go back

for seconds. Easily the best part about
eating so much is getting dirty looks
from relatives. You can tell they are
thinking, “Man, this kid likes to eat.”
These looks fuel me to want to eat
even more.
As I clear my second plate, it’s time
to take a timeout and prepare for des-
sert. It’s getting late and the best part
of the meal has come: pie time.
Every year, people will ask me,
“Apple or pumpkin pie?” I respond
with, “Why not both?” Every time.
I fi nish off my night with a piece of
each, which allows me to achieve my
goal of a food coma.
I go downstairs to my cousins’
basement and pass out on their couch.
This allows me to enter the best sleep
I get all year.
Thanksgiving, I love you.
