You will see a detailed article from Tony Mobbs , Rear Commodore House , about the planned 50th celebrations at the end of April . Do please come and make this weekend very special .
As Tony says we are looking for anyone with memories of the club , particularly in the earlier days of the 70s and 80s . I plan to do a short piece on the predicted log event that was run regularly by the Motor Section in the 80s .
I want to congratulate the Wednesday Gang ( called unkindly the Saga Louts !!) for the work they have done on the pontoons . Some areas of the pontoon planking were considered to be becoming dangerous .
The Wednesday Gang has worked extremely hard to strengthen the planking with extra bearers and they have extended their life sufficiently until we can replace them along with the bridgeheads in the not too distant future .
You will have noticed a new colour scheme in the Restaurant and this is still not quite finished . We will be hanging up the burgees again in a rather different way soon , which I hope you like .
Many people have been telling me there is a real buzz to the club at the moment and thank you to everyone for creating the buzz .
It really does make the club an interesting and sometimes exciting place to be . We all hope and expect the spring will bring better weather and the opportunity for many more of you to start visiting places near and far in your boats
Please make sure you reserve the weekend of 26th April to 1st May in your diaries for the club ’ s 50th celebrations , thank you .
