Cruising Further Afield – Sunday 15 January . By Helen Jupp
On a wet miserable Sunday morning , it was good to dream and make plans for this year ’ s summer cruises .
A large number of sailors gathered to hear presentations from other CYC members . David Roberts kicked off proceedings telling us about the Rear Commodore ’ s Cruise crossing the Channel to Cherbourg in May . He told us that this would be run in a flexible way depending on how much time you can spare .
You can join just for the Bank Holiday weekend , a week should get you to Guernsey , or a two week trip should get along the North Brittany coast to Trebeurden and back to the South coast .
For those folk who wish to extend their cruise , several members will be continuing towards South Brittany as an informal group .
We were then tempted to go further south in France by David and Stella Ingram who keep their yacht on the Vilaine River and have cruised extensively in West France and South Brittany .
David showed us some delightful anchorages , harbours and marinas on the mainland and the islands from Quiberon to the River Charente .
