During the visit to Prolific , many commented on the size and suitability of the new boat for the great work OYT does with young people from all kinds of backgrounds .
Some also enquired how members of CYC might assist the charity – ideas included finding young people and groups to do a voyage , becoming volunteers ashore or at sea and of course spreading the word and helping raise funds .
After our visit , we whiled away a couple of hours over lunch at the nearby Royal Southampton Yacht Club .
Our thanks go to Ally Benson for taking us by coach ; and to the volunteers who gave up their free time to share their knowledge and enthusiasm .
The OYT South website has loads of information for those wishing to become involved – there are even opportunities for us adults to sail on Prolific over a weekend – how about a CYC Charter in 2018 for a week ?
