JUNIOR
CHAMPIONSHIP
IN CHILE
The most important junior championship in Chile is
the XX Campeonato Juvinel de Chile y Dobles Mixtos
Internacional by Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy. For
the past three years, GGGA has had the privilege of
sponsoring this exciting event in partnership with Golf
Action and the Federacion Chilena de Golf.
This year, the championship was held August 24-26
at the Club de Golf Brisas de Chicureo in Santiago,
Chile. As in previous years, GGGA hosted a clinic for
juniors and also an educational session for coaches at
Sport Frances Club de Golf. This year, clinics were led
by Gary, himself, and included discussions about full
swing, short game, on-course management, mental
performance, strength & conditioning, and functional
movement.
While visiting Sport Frances Club de Golf, Gary and his
team had the opportunity to meet with club directors,
coaches, players, and students. He was also able
to meet with golf associations from both Brazil and
Argentina.
Gary had the opportunity
to reconnect with his old
friend and former LPGA
student, Nicole Perrot.
After retiring from the
LPGA, Nicole returned
to reside full time in her
beautiful home country.
It was an awesome time
for him to catch up with
Nicole and reminisce.
It was an incredible tournament, hosted by partners
who were generous and hospitable. With Chile’s
beautiful scenery as a backdrop to the tournament, it
proved to be a spectacular event for everyone.
