TRAINING with Gary In a coaching career that spans more than 25 years, Gary Gilchrist has been responsible for recruiting, training and developing more professional, amateur and junior golfers than any other coach in the world. His system of training applies to golfers of all ages and abilities. At GGGA’s training facilities, it isn’t uncommon to see Gary coaching tour players. Last month, three professional golfers from India (Sharma Nicollet from Chandigarh, Saaniya Sharma, and Tvesa Malik from Gugaon) worked with Gary at the training facilities at Mission Inn Resort. TVESA MALIK (Gugaon, India) Tvesa Malik and her sister used to tag along with their dad while he played golf. She fell in love with the game and decided to pursue it seriously. Tvesa won a number of junior and amateur events before turning pro in 2017. In her short professional career, she already has four wins under her belt. At just 22 years old, Tvesa is ranked first on this year’s Hero Order of Merit. SAANIYA SHARMA (Bangalore, India) Saaniya Sharma is a seasoned golfer who turned pro in 2007. She’s had many successes and also persevered through some challenging times including an injury in 2017. But the ups and downs haven’t stopped Saaniya. She is determined to reach her full potential. She finds inspiration in the stories of other players who have achieved a comeback following injury. For Saaniya, it’s important to play in the present - to focus and breathe. She believes in sticking to the process including her pre- and post- shot routines. SHARMILA NICOLLET (Chandigarh, India) Twenty-seven year old Sharma Nicollet turned professional in 2009 when she was only 18 years old. She is the youngest Indian golfer to qualify for the Ladies European Tour and the second Indian to earn a full card on the Ladies European Tour. She has a total of fifteen professional tour wins. In addition to being a professional golfer, Sharma is also an online influencer and media personality. A typical day for Sharma includes six hours of golf, two hours at the gym, dinner and sleep. Sharma credits her strong support team which includes her mom and her coach for helping keep her focused and on track.
