Owner Bette Guerin extensively researches unique offerings keeping the inventory fresh and enticing. An alliance was formed with CRAG (Connecticut River Artisan Group) in 2010 which comprises a group of over 50 artisans from New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont and Canada, creating a gallery space within Fiddleheads to enhance the stores uniqueness. Themed art exhibits throughout the year, as well as “Artisan Spotlights,” allow visitors to meet the artists and artisans and gain valuable insight into the featured works. LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS GREAT NORTH WOODS COMMITTEE FOR THE ARTS (GNWCA): THE TILLOTSON CENTER FOR THE ARTS: A volunteer-run, non-profit organization that brings hundreds of high quality concerts and performances to the area. See gnwca.org for more details. A historical building full of culture, featuring a comfortable 171 seat theater for concerts, plays, movies, art gallery, and events. DIXVILLE NOTCH “FIRST IN THE NATION” Since 1960, Dixville has been the first community in the state and country to cast its handful of votes in national elections. On election eve, 100% of the eligible voters gather in the ballot room of The BALSAMS as midnight polls open and a few minutes later promptly close. The results are broadcast around the world. Northern New Hampshire makes you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere, when in reality you are actually half way between the Equator and the North Pole. The 45 th Parallel has two locations, one in Clarksville, the other in Stewartstown. The 45 th passes through the United States, Canada, China and Russia, including our own corner of the globe right here in New Hampshire.
