Community and Development
Grove City business managers, did you know that you and your employees who
live in other communities are eligible to enjoy City of Grove City Parks and
Recreation programs the same as city residents?
The Parks and Recreation Department manages 21 parks and 320 acres of
greenspace and offers a variety of indoor and outdoor recreational and
enrichment programs to the community and visitors. The department is able to
provide these amenities through the support of local taxes, hence a lower
“resident rate” provides credit to those paying municipal taxes that help support
these facilities, programs and events.
Through the City of Grove City Fair Share Policy, non-residents who pay income
tax to the City of Grove City are eligible to participate at resident rates. To be
eligible, non-residents must annually provide a current pay stub showing the
employer’s address and proof of payment of Grove City taxes or proof of
employment on company letterhead with the signature of the personnel director.
To qualify as a resident, a person must live or work in Grove City or Jackson
Township. This does not include all of ZIP code 43123; ZIP codes are used by
the U.S. Postal Service to designate the office that delivers mail to an address. If
unsure, visit Franklin County Auditor’s website at property.franklincountyauditor.
com to check your address. Grove City parcel IDs start with 040; unincorporated
Jackson Township with 160.
Farmers Market Return on Investment
Big Chain Stores are filled with a multitude of processed food choices and produce that is shipped in from around the world.
Shopping at your local farmers market for less-processed, clean, and healthy choices may be the smartest investment you
could ever make for your physical health and the health of your local economy.
Buzzing with excitement
Clean eating as a trend in nutrition is sweeping the country. Clean eating in its most basic form means to eat whole or less
processed food that is closer to the farm and farther from the factory with the goal of eating less additives, preservatives, and
preserving the nutrition from the whole food source. Shopping local is also a growing trend in nutrition. Eating food produced
closer to home tends to be fresher, healthier, tastier and easier on the environment than the shipped equivalents. Buying this
way also makes consumers feel good about supporting producers they know, who in turn invest in the local economy.
A Harvard study cites an Organic Center report, “Still No Free Lunch: Nutrient Levels in U.S. Food Supply Eroded by Pursuit
of High Yields,” which notes “farmers producing for a local and direct market...are more likely to prioritize taste and nutritional
quality over durability when making varietal decisions.”
Get the best return on your investment (ROI) of your grocery dollar by stopping in each Saturday to the Grove City Farmer’s
Market and see how clean eating and shopping local can optimize your health and the health of our local economy.
