Celebrate Grove City’s third annual EcoFest Saturday, Aug. 19, 10-4 p.m. in historic Grove City Town Center. Visit various interactive zones for fun, green-themed activities. Learn how eco-friendly practices by residents and businesses make Grove City more attractive, healthier and safer. Live nearby? Be green while avoiding parking woes: walk or ride your bike to the event and park in the bike corral sponsored by Yea! Bikes.
The Kids Zone features play-based education and fun including face painting, rope making and more. Don't miss KickMaster footgolf activities, Home Depot do-it-yourself projects, COSI activities (11 a.m.-3 p.m.) or special guest handlers and animals from Columbus Zoo and Aquarium (2 to 3 p.m.).
The Art Zone offers hands-on art projects created from recycled products. View sculpture displays and visit with members of the Little Theater Off Broadway to find out how they create props from "upcycled" and recycled materials.
The Sustainability Zone spotlights organizations and exhibitors that share information on rain barrels, solar panels, gardening, beekeeping, tree planting, solar cooking and more.
The Healthy Living and Wellness Zone provides visitors the opportunity to view and experience life-improving activities including yoga, 9Round and karate. Learn where you can stay active in Grove City including information on Scioto Grove Metro Park and the city's walking and biking trails.
Sponsored by Clean Fuels Ohio and the Electrical Trade Center, the Ride and Drive allows licensed drivers age 18 and older to experience an electric car between noon and 4 p.m.; register on-site starting at 11:30 a.m.
Mount Carmel Presents Bike with Mayor Ike at the EcoFest
Get in the spirit of EcoFest: hop on your bike and come early to join Mayor Richard L. "Ike" Stage on a family-friendly bike ride through the Town Center. The tour meets in Town Center at Park Street and Arbutus Avenue at 9 a.m.
After your ride, stay and enjoy the EcoFest, while YAY! Bikes parks your bicycle(s) in the secure corral.
