... Of course, if we were truly hungry, we could have patronized the identically named Traxx Restaurant about a hundred feet away, but tonight was only for appetizers. My friend has a craving for the Pommes Frites (she’s Belgian, so she eats them with mayonnaise…. I say true!), but for me the Curried Chicken Skewers are calling my name. It’s all delicious!

We look around at the patrons on this particular night, and see the standard mix of executives, long distance travelers, short distance commuters, and the random miscellaneous souls. The art on the walls provide a start contrast to the softness of the lighting fixtures, yet it all seems to fit together. There seems to be a charity event across the way at the old Grand Ticket Concourse. This happens often, a look out your peripheral vision and there are fancy-dressed people on their way to a gala full of LA glamour and

schmoozing. Not for us though. We strike up a conversation with the pair of sisters sitting next to us at the bar. One sister lived in the TBD apartments behind Union Station, the other has never been here. She speaks in awe of how much better it is to visit her sister via train versus fighting the traffic. We all nod our heads in agreement—it’s usually the way most commuters start in the lifestyle—as we toast to enjoying an end to this daily commute.
