2011-2012 Highlights January 2012  The Central Catholic community celebrated Blessed William Joseph Chaminade’s feast day with a special liturgy and Marianist vow renewals for the religious that serve at Central Catholic High School.  Central Catholic presented its highest honor, the Marianist Heritage Award, to Mr. Thomas J. Bronder ‘72, World History faculty member. This award is given annually to a faculty/staff member, lay or cleric, not under Marianist Religious Vows, who has promoted the Marianist Spirit throughout Central Catholic High School. February 2012  The Central Catholic Swimming team had an extraordinary season. The team placed 3rd at the TAPPS Meet and finished the season as TAPPS Regional Champions! March 2012  Central Catholic named new head football coach Don Byrd.  The Central Catholic Soccer team had a record of 15-8-4 this season and became District Champions! April 2012  Ryan Koops ‘10 qualified for the 2012 Olympic Swim Team Trials.  Walker Sinclair ‘13 became the 100 meter State Champion!  The Archdiocese of San Antonio recognized Central Catholic and its Diaper Drive for collecting and donating over 56,000 diapers to Seton Home. May 2012  John Rangel ‘12 was one of 1,000 students in the United States to be awarded the Gates Millennium Scholarship, which covers four years at any accredited university in the country and education through master’s and doctoral levels.  The Button Baseball team became District Champions and was a TAPPS Regional Finalist! June 2012  Alex Pedraza ‘13, Zach Fresquez ‘13, Ricky Garcia ‘13, Louie Guerra (Religion Faculty), Boyd Newman-Caro ‘13, Miguel Ochoa (Music Faculty), and Jared Edwards ‘13 visited a primary school in Kwawa, a small village in Malawi, Africa during their service immersion trip this summer.
