Over 40 years ago, some determined individuals had the foresight to
collect artifacts, purchase an old pool hall… and the rest is history. The
mural’s depiction of Irene Parlby of the Famous Five and a horse and
bullock team hitched to a covered wagon, as well as a sculpture created
from melted aluminum and butter in the creamery fire, help to tell the
story of Alix’s rich heritage. Learn about the significance of the “wagon
wheel” in the museum’s name.

In 1976 a group of interested citizens formed a society in order to
save Delburne’s train station. CN was in the process of demolishing the
unused stations along the rail line and the group felt it would make
an excellent museum. In 1978 the museum opened at its present site
on Main Street. Visit the original CN water tower with three floors of
exhibits. Experience what life was like as a coal miner. Relive the past in
an original 1906 school. Don’t miss learning about Anthony Henday, a
servant of the Hudson’s Bay Co, who travelled through this area in 1754.
