name, shaped the agriculture and the lives of those who gave
a unique flavour to the settlements of the region. In turn,
the settler’s history is that of shaping the land to their needs.
The lives of women are at the heart of this history, and their
activities, unfurled over a period of more than 100 years, are
viewed against the backdrop of settlement and modern history.
