Nestled in the picturesque Kneehill Valley lies the Village of Carbon.
Founded in 1912, the unique village was home to a bustling coal mining
industry. The local museum displays many interesting and factual
accounts of the mining era as well as the development of ranching and
as time progressed the cultivation of the rich soil, which brought many
new settlers from U.S.A and Europe. A unique display also tells the story
of the Carbon Murder Mystery; three murders in the early 1920s that to
this very day have never been solved.

The Caroline District was opened for homestead settlement in 1905 —
the year our Province was born. Since 1987 the Community Historical
Society of Caroline has collected, preserved and presented 100 years
of history. The “Anderson Log Cabin”, the first museum, was moved to its
our new location in 2005 and became the “Trappers Cabin”. Now, six
buildings have been restored and are authentically furnished to their
individual time periods. There is also a Nature Trail, and geocaching is
another favourite pursuit of our visitors.
