As you enter the doors of the Breton Museum you will discover the
early community of Keystone, one of four Black communities in Alberta
settled in 1909. Travel on and learn about the coming of the Lacombe
Northwestern Railway fondly known as the “Peanut” or “Muskeg Special”
and the founding of Breton. Find out how the coming of the railway
transformed Breton into a major lumbering centre at the end of the line.
Each year the Breton Museum celebrates Black History Month during
February. Please call for information.
