beach on travel website, TripAdvisor
T
his marks the third year running that Weymouth has
topped the list of best beach in the UK by TripAdvisor
and also made the top three of the Traveller’s Choice
awards.
The top 10 list of best beaches is voted by members of
the public. The results are based on the number of positive traveller
reviews for beaches over a year and Weymouth beach came out on
top yet again.
Dorset did especially well overall with three beaches featuring in
the top 10 with Bournemouth Beach and Hengistbury Head rating
highly.
Weymouth beach was also the only UK beach to make it into the
Trip Advisor top beaches in Europe list at number nine.
Visitors to Weymouth beach have praised the beautiful views,
its cleanliness and the attractions. One 2017 reviewer commented:
“Wow this beach is still as wonderful as the first time I visited over
20 years ago. Lovely clean, stone-free sand and lots to do in this
lovely place. Great for family fun – highly recommend.”
Weymouth beach was also awarded the coveted Seaside Award
from Keep Britain Tidy in 2015 which ensures visitors are
guaranteed to find a clean, safe, attractive and well-managed coastal
stretch.
The Georgian promenade acts as a backdrop to the long arc of
the fine, golden sand beach in the centre of town. From the beach
there are panoramic views taking in the World Heritage Jurassic
Coastline.
The beach is safe with all the necessary facilities and
entertainments that you’d expect from a traditional British holiday
seaside town.
TripAdvisor suggests that the best time to visit Weymouth is July-
September. The low winter sun sets for the perfect backdrop to the
beautiful scenery.
Now it’s been named at the best beach in UK, Weymouth is
expecting a bumper summer season and it hopes to attract even
more visitors throughout the year.
