MY VIEW OF THE PROPERTY MARKET

The addition of 550 new homes being built in the North East Quadrant will take the total number of homes to 2,500 in the next ten years . We hear from David Bridge at conveyancing specialist bpl solicitors with his view of the property market in Poundbury

Since 2008 , the housing market has provided many challenges and drawing much speculation and debate as to what will happen next , but I am not going to seek to offer solutions to those challenges here .

Instead I want to talk about Poundbury , which although not immune to downturn , did buck the trend and continued growing throughout .
The development ’ s innovation , clear vision and unique style continues to attract homeowners and new businesses alike . A quick glance in a local estate agent ' s window will show the buoyancy of the market currently , and the development is often used as a national showpiece to illustrate what can be achieved with innovative planning and vision .
I have worked ( and occasionally lived ) in Poundbury for many years and have seen first-hand the maturing of the original vision . This journey continues with the near completion of Queen Mother Square and the relocation of Damers First School and this can only enhance the attractiveness of the area for families and businesses alike .
Moving to Poundbury is more than just an investment in bricks and mortar . Uniquely you also become part of a new and vibrant community and have the opportunity to contribute ( through the various community
groups and management companies ) to that community in a way that is often lacking anywhere else .
