Diane Holt & Kate Atkinson
Bridal Reloved
Continued from page 35
A few doors down from the Angel Cake Company is proud business owner Kate Atkinson , who has started her empire of second-hand boutique bridal shops called Bridal Reloved . Kate started her business three years ago with her mum Diane Holt on board . Now Kate ’ s idea has flourished and she is opening Bridal Reloved franchises all over the country . Watching her daughter achieve this in her own business has been an emotional experience for Diane . “ It has been wonderful to have been a part of this and I am so proud of how she has done ," she says . Diane is able to bring a wealth of experience to the business . Throughout her career she has managed big charities , property and travelled widely , and applies this to the bookkeeping of Kate ’ s growing empire . Kate describes their working relationship with joy and it is clear that she treasures her mother ’ s weekly messages of encouragement . “ The thing is my mum and family never had any doubt I ’ d make this work ,” Kate says . When brides walk into the store with their mothers , Kate says it is great to have Diane there for fittings . “ When you are selling wedding dresses it is an emotional time for mother and daughter and we both still love doing those fittings and getting emotional along with the customers .” For Jacqui Cheke , being able to relocate her Capelli hairdressing salon to the Buttermarket where her daughter Jordan could open her own beauty salon next door was the perfect arrangement . Now this mum and daughter run separate businesses but they complement each other . Jordan , who started Allure aged just 22 , says that two years on it has proven to be the best decision they could have made . “ I watched mum build her own business and that gave me the confidence to start my own business at such a young age ,” she says . “ I have no regrets , I wouldn ' t change a thing .” Jacqui , who is celebrating the tenth anniversary of her busy salon in Poundbury , says she is proud that her daughter was able to build a new business herself . “ It ’ s been brilliant to watch Jordan and see her business grow . Our businesses go together so well and our customers really like the fact that we are mother and daughter and they can use come for their hair and then visit Jordan for a treatment ,” she says .
