Congratulations to Lisa, Nigel and Greg on their 30th anniversary, all the way from Baltimore, Maryland (USA)!
We owe a great deal to Lisa, Nigel and Greg because they gave us our start in the fitness industry, as we were
the very first international presenters at the very first FILEX in Surfers Paradise!
These days, we consider FILEX the gold standard for fitness conventions throughout the world. In Machiavelli’s
The Prince he says “Ultimately you will be judged by what you give back to society”. Lisa, Nigel and Greg, you
will be judged well. You have given to the global fitness industry in general, and the Australian fitness industry
in particular, a level of professionalism, opportunity and education not seen before. You’ve tied us all together
in ways that only you could have done, and you have given us memories – past, present and future – that we
will treasure forever. We are all better because of you. As Nigel is fond of saying, “Well done!” Congratulations
on your 30th anniversary – “good on ya!”

I was first introduced to Network team; Greg, Nigel and co. when I did the ACHPER course back in 1990. I can still
remember the excitement I felt each day being part of this amazing course and I knew immediately that this
was the industry I needed to be a part of. Fast forward to 1996 when I went through an interview process with
Greg Hurst. It was my first job out of university and I was living the dream as part of the Network team. For over
10 years I got to work closely with Nigel and Greg. Everyday was so exciting, being part of the ever-changing
fitness landscape. This power duo basically created the Australian fitness industry. It was such an amazing
time, never a dull moment and lots of fun projects. Greg always had this incredible vision; he just seemed
to know what would work. Nigel was full of energy and was always busy making sure everyone was happy. He
always had time for a chat and wanted to see what was happening. There are many people that helped shape
Network over the years, but it was the leaders who took everyone along for the ride. They just seemed to bring
out the best in their staff. Even to this day, I feel very blessed to have worked for them. Working for Network
really did change my life.

I would like to congratulate both Nigel and Greg for the last 30 years of fantastic support and guidance for fitness in Australia,
and in particular for all Tasmanian members.
Now 30 years on Nigel and Greg continue to lead with enthusiasm and energy and it only seems like yesterday that we were
attending FILEX conferences at the Gold Coast or Greg flying to Tasmania in 1989 in a small plane, full of fish because of the
National Pilots Strike, so that he could compare our Tasmanian Aerobic Championships and mentor our team.
Congratulations to you both from all fitness leaders and participants who have benefitted from your leadership.
