IF YOU WISH TO BE MARRIED IN AN
ANGLICAN CHURCH (CHURCH OF
ENGLAND OR CHURCH IN WALES),
THEN YOU NEED TO CONTACT THE VICAR TO
MAKE YOUR ARRANGEMENTS.
The vicar will usually call the banns of marriage,
however, changes to the law following the
Immigration Act 2014 mean that if you are from
outside the EEA or are subject to immigration
control, you will need to give notice at a
designated Register Office. See the information
on giving notice of marriage for further details.

If you wish to marry in a church or religious
building of any other denomination, for example
Roman Catholic, Baptist or Methodist, you
must speak to the priest or minister in charge
at the building. They will advise whether the
attendance of a registrar on the day of the
wedding is necessary and both of you will need
to give your notice of intention at a Register
Office.
See the information on giving notice of marriage
for further details.
