This will create a new record showing the child to be a child of the marriage. After you are married you will need to complete a Form LA1 which is available from your local register office or the form can be downloaded from www.gov.uk Once the form has been completed one or both parents will need to make an appointment at your local register office. If you have moved away from the area where your child was born you can still go to your local register office and the details will be passed to the register office which holds the original birth entry. If you are married overseas or enter in to a civil partnership the re-registration will need to be authorised by the General Register Office.
