Cairo Contemporary Dance Center brings the best artists , dancers , choreographers , all recognized and experienced teachers , to provide the best possible training to its students .
Karima Mansour ( Contemporary Dance )
Karima Mansour graduated with both a B . A . and a M . A . in
Contemporary Dance from the London Contemporary Dance School after having completed her B . A . in Film from the High Institute of Cinema at the Academy of Arts in Cairo . Upon Karima ’ s return to Egypt in 1999 , she founded MAAT for Contemporary Dance , the first independent dance company in the country . She has since created 20 full choreographic works that continue to be performed in various international festivals , as well as more than 20 collaborations in theater and film .
Karima is also the founder of MAAT Dance M . E . C . A ( MAAT Movement for Egyptian Contemporary Art ), an initiative that continues the work developed through choreographies and workshops originally taught by Karima and / or her invited guests from all over the world .
Karima also taught at the Cairo Opera Dance Theatre Company and in the years from 1999-2000 she was an assistant professor at the Ballet Institute at Cairo ’ s Academy of Arts . In 2010 Karima was an Adjunct Professor of Dance at the Performance and Visual Arts Department of the American University in Cairo .
Karima is the founder and artistic director of CCDC and continues to work as a freelance choreographer , performer , and teacher nationally and internationally . In addition to running her institutions , Karima also continues to create , perform , and develop her own choreographic work and language as an artist .
