And Wherefore?

Who’s crazy,
Temptation or sin?
Giving in?
Who’s crazy,
The one who played a part
Or the one who forgot what might have been?
The obsessed or the one with the stories?
Tall tales, or should I say long?
(He’d prefer long).
Who’s crazy,
The one who went through hell
Or the one who put her there and stood smiling by the gates of
Lilies?
The ugliest lilies.
I could never understand their appeal.
Who’s crazy,
The one who lost the one thing left to hold onto
Or the one who refused to hold?
Or maybe it was the nightingale,
Who flew so swiftly on.
Who’s not crazy,
As we slip in and out of chaos?
Who can stay sane in this mad, mad world?
Maybe there’s some secret way
Or maybe that, too, flew away.
