NEWS & EVENTS 2014 TOURNAMENTS Rally for the Cure COMMUNICATION AT THE CLUB General Number: (866) 568-4358 Golf Shop: (706) 856-3323 Waterfall Grille: (706) 856-4745 Our annual Rally for the Cure was held on May 21. The Rally for the Cure works to spread awareness about breast health and breast cancer in support of Susan B. Komen. We had beautiful weather and a great day for golf while supporting a great cause. Twenty-three women and men joined in play as well as others contributing to the cause. The winning men’s team was Rob Rosenbloom, Hutch Hutchinson, Bob Athens and Jeff Meitz. The winning women’s team was Annette Holland, Ruth Roosenberg, Chris Rosenbloom, and Marti Reckdenwald. Closest to the hole winners were Sarah Hutton and Steve Schyck. Thanks to all of the participants and our sponsors as we raised over $1,800. $1,000 of that amount will remain here in Hart County to assist our residents in their battles. Red, White & Blue By the time you read this, we will have hosted our ninth annual Red, White & Blue Tournament on Thursday, June 12. This has been our most popular event and, in past years, the field has been comprised of teams representing over a dozen clubs in north Georgia and South Carolina. We will have the results and pictures in the next issue. C a t eechee chronicle | Jul y / A u g u s t 2 0 1 4 Match Play Tournament We have reached the semi-final rounds of our new match play tournament. These matches will be played by June 23. The match in the upper bracket will be between Jeanine Douglas and Candy Taylor. The match in the lower bracket will be between Kathy Heriford and Annette Holland. The winners of each of these matches will meet and play prior to the July 14 deadline. Punkin’ Open | October 22 This is a two-person member team event in which teams are paired by handicaps. This event gives all of our CLGA members, both 18 and 9-hole players, a chance to play together. We will have a day of fun, crazy golf and celebrate heartily. CHICKS & CROWS Our May 2 event was hosted by Ruth Roosenberg and Chris Rosenbloom. Sixteen players in teams of four vied for first place. It was captured by the team of Rick Heithaus, Jack Maciag, Ruth Roosenberg and Pat Schyck. The second place team was Chris Rosenboom, Annette Holland, Woody Hutton and Ruth Ann Maciag. The third place team was Rob Rosenbloom, Jackie Kuppersmith, Jan Heithaus and Paul Roosenberg. On June 1, all the two person teams played from the forward tees and the longest club that men were able to use was a 9 iron, except that they could use a driver on #3. The format was alternate shot with the women teeing off on the even numbered holes and the men on the odd numbered holes. The winning team, with a score of 44, was Rich Reckdenwald and Jan Heithaus. Second place was Steve Schyck and Ruth Roosenberg. Third place was Paul Roosenberg and Candy Taylor. The average score for all teams was 49. CLGA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM We presented scholarships to two high girls’ golf team players this spring. Bonne Olsen, chair of our scholarship program, presented the award on behalf of the CLGA to Rachael Hulme on May 8 at Elberton County Comprehensive High School Senior Awards night. On May 16, Tammy Hutchinson, presented the award to Elizabeth Walker at Hart County High School. Congratulations from all of us at the CLGA!
