Catalyst Course Selections
Parents and students will be asked to complete
Discovery Course selections via the School’s online
Web Preferences Portal at: Year 8 in 2019

on Page 19)
Selection 1 – One Design Technologies course
To access the Web Preferences Portal both a student
access code and password is required. Parents will
receive log in details as well as further instructions
regarding the online course selection process via mail
and email.
Selection 2 – Two Discovery courses
• Two first choices and two reserve choices from
the Year 8 Discovery Learning Bank of courses
(see Year 8 Discovery Learning course outlines on
Pages 37-41)
Prior to accessing the Discovery Course selection link,
parents and students should be prepared with the
following information:
Year 9 in 2019
Year 7 in 2019
• Year 9 students select four Discovery Learning
courses and two reserve choices (see Year 9
Discovery Learning course outlines on Pages 42-46)
Selection 1 – One Language course
• A first choice and reserve choice of foreign
language
• Discovery course – preference one
• Discovery course – preference two
Selection 2 – One Design Technologies course • Discovery course – preference three
• A first choice and reserve choice from the Design
Technologies bank of courses (see course outlines
on page 19) • Discovery course – preference four
• Discovery course – reserve choice one
• Discovery course – reserve choice two
Selection 3 – Two Discovery courses
The online preferences portal will guide you through
the process of entering this information. With
the above information prepared, Catalyst Course
selection should take less than ten minutes.
