GUILDFORD GRAMMAR SCHOOL SPORTING COMPETITION Apart from two well-equipped gymnasiums and two swimming pools, Guildford Grammar School utilises some 40 hectares of playing fields, comprising rugby grounds, football ovals, hockey pitches, turf wickets, tennis, basketball and netball courts, plus additional areas for net practice and general games. Rowing takes place on the nearby Swan River. Sport in the Senior School is compulsory and there is a wide range of choices. Boys’ Sport Boys at the Senior School compete in the PSA competition. Their sport is arranged along the following lines: Summer season Term 1 and 4: Cricket, Tennis, Basketball, Swimming, Rowing, Volleyball and Water Polo Winter season Term 2 and 3: Football, Hockey, Rugby, Cross-Country Running and Soccer. Athletics is conducted in Term 3 and is compulsory for those boys selected to compete. NB   Rowing is only available to boys in Years 8 – 12 Some sport codes train before school Two sports training afternoons take place each week. Boys may also be selected to represent the School in inter-school matches at weekends. • Basketball • Cricket • Swimming • Tennis • Volleyball • Water polo • Rowing (not offered in Year 7) Page | 52 All boys in Years 7, 8 and 9 have training sessions from 3.45pm to 5.00pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, and play PSA inter-school matches, if selected, at 2.00 pm on Fridays.
