Youth Athletics Track Clinic: Jumps, Hurdles, and Plyometric Agilities Track Clinics Each clinic focuses on different components of track and field. They are perfect if your child is interested in partici- pating and competing at the junior high or high school levels. The clinics are run by Chaille Gleason, 2012 Illinois Track Coaches Hall of Fame Inductee and high school track athletes. Track Clinic: Sprints, Relays, Hurdles, and Shot Put Grades 3rd - 8th KT This session will include instruction on proper warm up, run- ning form, starting positions for racing, relay exchanges, hurdles, and shot put. Athletes will focus on at least 2 events as well as general speed drills and conditioning dur- ing the session. Location: Briargate School Gym Instructor: Chaille Gleason CODE 8775 DAY Tu DATE 2/27 TIME 6:00-7:30 pm R/NR FEE $15/$20 Grades 3rd - 8th KT This session will include instruction on proper warm up, running form, foundational principles of long jump, triple jump, high jump, hurdle warm up and starts. Athletes will learn safe landing and balancing skills critical to plyomet- ric training used in all sports. Location: Briargate School Gym Instructor: Chaille Gleason CODE 8776 DAY Th DATE 3/1 TIME 6:00-7:30 pm R/NR FEE $15/$20 Track Clinic: Sprints, Jumps, Hurdles, Discus, and Non-Impact Strength/Balance Grades 3rd - 8th KT This session builds on the skills from the first two clinics. It is not a requirement to attend the prior clinics, but it is help- ful. The session covers more sprint, jump, and hurdle tech- niques and drills plus the grip and release of the discus. We will also cover the cool down and non-impact strength and conditioning activities that can prevent injury.
