Carinya Christian School TAMWORTH Dynamic & Diverse: Educating for the Real World SENIOR SCHOOL: Year 9 - Year 12 Students in Years 9 and 10 enjoy a dynamic and diverse personal and academic environment, which encourages them to develop their academic skills, as well as explore and interact with the world God has made. The strong, academic framework of the curriculum and the many practical elective options for students in Years 9 and 10, promote high expectations, a purposeful work ethic and a sense of personal responsibility for their learning. A Strong Academic Framework In Years 11 and 12 students pursue their HSC course, or preparation for the workforce, in a strong academic framework with high expectations and an emphasis on personal responsibility and the faithful use of abilities and opportunities. A Satisfactory Academic Profile In Years 9-12 each student is required to maintain a Satisfactory Academic Profile consistent with their abilities. Educating for the Real World In the Senior School at Carinya, students develop positive academic work habits, strengthen their sense of personal purpose and perspective, and in a rapidly changing world, begin to form and consolidate their priorities for life after school. Personal qualities of commitment, integrity and reliability are fostered to prepare the work for further study. CURRICULUM YEARS 9-10 Core Subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography and PDHPE. 10 Carinya CHRISTIAN SCHOOL Electives include, but are not limited to: • Environmental Studies and Outdoor Education • PASS (Physical Activity and Sports Science) • Agriculture • Japanese (LOTE) • Design and Technology • Music • Food Technology • Textiles Technology • Information Software Technology • Visual Arts Record of School Achievement: From Year 10 students are eligible for the award of a Record of School Achievement (ROSA), issued by the NSW Board of Studies, for students who leave school prior to the award of a Higher School Certificate. CURRICULUM YEARS 11-12 Students pursue a course of study which leads to the award of a Higher School Certificate.
