Campaign with us: carersweek.org Raising awareness across the UK There were activities held in every corner of the UK. Carers UK’s first ever Poem- a-thon took place on the Saturday of Carers Week. We were delighted to hear the poems of long-standing Carers UK members as well as carers who have been featured in our creative writing anthologies. See page 10 to find out more. Carers UK head office opened its doors to carers in the community for its first Open Day (photo top left). Carers were able to speak to staff and find out more about the work of Carers UK including volunteering, membership and our campaigns. NI organised their first ever Dragon Boat Race on the River Lagan on the Friday of Carers Week. See page 9 for more on this. Carers Week in Stats • 1,373 activities registered on the Carers Week website • 476 pledges of support for Carers Week • 85 parliamentarians attended Carers Week “Speed-networking” event at Westminster • 6,988 uses of the #CarersWeek hashtag on Twitter • More than 60k people reached by Carers Week Facebook activity On Wednesday 13 June, Carers Wales launched the new Employers for Carers Wales hub at an event hosted by Centrica PLC (photo bottom). The new hub will help employers across Wales access expert guidance and legal advice to set up carer friendly employment policies and working practices.
