Power of attorney refund
Good news for those of you who applied to register a power of attorney
between 1 April 2013 and 31 March 2017; you may be eligible to get a
refund for part of the application.
The refund is for people who applied for lasting
powers of attorney (LPA) and enduring powers of
attorney (EPA) in this period. How much you will get
refunded depends on when you paid the fees and
you will also get 0.5% interest.
You can claim your refund by going online to
www.gov.uk/power-of-attorney-refund and filling
in an online form or by contacting the Office of the
Public Guardian by phone on 0300 456 0300 or by
email [email protected]
Refunds must be claimed by the 31st of January
2021 and are only for people who have made the
power of attorney in England or Wales.
Carers UK breakthrough in the charts
We were very excited to learn earlier in the year that we were the highest
new entry in the Charity Brand Index for 2018, coming in at 65th out of
150. All very Top of the Pops!
The index is an in-depth survey of 4,279
adults in the UK. People were asked questions
about charities, such as which ones they were
most aware of, whether they trusted them,
how likely they were to donate to them and
whether they cared about their causes.
We are really proud that the work that we
do is getting us recognised and that the
message that we need to support unpaid
carers in clearly being heard. Most importantly
we know that the support and help of our
members, volunteers and donors is a huge
factor in our success. So thanks to all of you
who have helped to get Carers UK in the
charts!
