Get on Board
There are many ways you can support Carers UK. One of them is by
joining our Board as a Trustee. Carers UK is governed by our Board of
Trustees, and the majority of Trustees are carers or have had a recent
experience of caring. This way we know that we are always putting
carers at the heart of everything we do as a charity.
Each Trustee is an unpaid volunteer with
particular skills and experience. The Board is
made up of 12-15 Trustees who can commit
between 10-12 days per year to the charity.
We are now recruiting up to 3 new Trustees
and are particularly looking for people with
skills and experience in the following areas:
• Current or recent carer experience
• Fundraising
• Finance
• Commercial
• Marketing and PR
It’s an exciting time to be part of Carers
UK. We are working towards our vision of a
society which values and supports carers. We
are growing too, with 1,000 new members
joining every month, along with forward-
thinking employers and a host of other
partners who recognise the importance of
supporting carers. Our Board is instrumental
in ensuring we make a impact for carers while
fulfilling all our obligations as a charity.
As a carer it seemed natural for me to
get involved in a charity speaking out on
carers’ issues. Since becoming a trustee
I’ve been able to use my experience and
skills to help Carers UK in its strategy
development and priority setting, and it’s
exciting to see the progress we’re making
towards our Vision 2021. I’ve learnt
a lot too, and feel I’m able to make a
difference as a Board member.
