Company Culture

Hard Work
Working should be fun and enriching , but the hours are long and the work is hard , so be prepared .
Life Aboard
Life on a ship will likely be a unique experience for you . In addition to traveling everyday , you are living where you work . Most people adapt quickly and enjoy it , but it may take some time to adjust . It is a dormitory-style environment you may be comfortable with from college and is a great environment in which to build new friendships .
Walking the Walk
Your appearance and attitude are a reflection of American Cruise Lines . We are a conservative company and therefore have fairly strict grooming , uniform , and service standards . Whenever you are on duty , you must be in uniform and well-groomed . Large , visible tattoos and certain piercings are not permitted and hair must be kept to a standard length .
Drug and Alcohol-Free
American Cruise Lines has a strict no alcohol policy . You will have emergency duties , so you must always be alert and ready . Even when off duty , you cannot drink . Illegal drugs are still illegal and you will be enrolled in a U . S . Coast Guard random drug testing program .
Ambassadors of Excellence
We provide an exceptional experience to everyone on board our ships — guests and crew alike . You have a duty to work as a team , support your fellow crew members , and exceed the expectations of our guests . Working together , we can operate safely , create wonderful experiences , and form lifelong friendships .
