Despite the positive benefits of marijuana, particularly vaping, the issue remains that the act of smoking is unequivocally harmful to respiratory health long-term (Lung Institute, 2017). The fact of the matter is that smoking marijuana has been the norm for a long time. Oils, tinctures, edibles and salves are fairly new ways to medically deliver marijuana and or Cannabis treatments gaining strength in terms of consumer preferences however, vaping remains king.

On the opposing side of the issue and the (Lung Institute, 2016) admit that smoking marijuana can somewhat have the same affect on the lungs as smoking cigarettes. The Center for Disease control (CDC) suggests that marijuana smoking contains over 800 chemicals and deposits which leaves nearly four times as much tar in the lungs as smoking a cigarette.

How Cannabis affects overall health seems determined on how it’s consumed. Because marijuana is most commonly smoked from pipes, bongs, rapid-burning-paper-wrapped-joints, large blunts and other devices that heat or vaporize marijuana, further exasperate effects on respiratory health may occur if overused.
