Okay, so that explains a portion of the how we became “One Nation Overdosed”. For the past 70 or so years, the feeling was that growing hemp in America has been illegal simply because it so resembled its psychoactive cousin marijuana but apparently nobody told the construction or house building industry. While researching the term hemp, I came across a product called Hempcrete; a bio-composite made of the inner woodiest core of the hemp plant that is then mixed with a lime-based binder, shaped into cement blocks that apparently float. The product is half the weight of cement and used to insulate many homes from Florida to Washington State.
