Caring for the Rural Population
HEOE expands its approach to care to include the rural population. It does this by utilizing alternative resources such as art therapy, group counseling and horse therapy. In rural areas such as Pueblo, Colorado, healthcare is limited or nonexistent. Kyle elaborates by stating "approximately 70% of these patients do not receive care. By offering these alternatives to care: horse therapy, art therapy, group counseling, it opens up and creates a network for options. It broadens the scope for use of treatment... it can help other rural areas to utilize the resources they do have in a more efficient way."
