Travis then reached out to the LinkedIn community in efforts to begin the program. He received an overwhelming amount of support from physicians, nurses, PhDs, industry people and more. In August 2017, the first steering committee (pictures below) of 30-40 people met at La Clinica. It's thru these

committee meetings comprised of professionals, providers, researchers and scientists, HEOE aims to write medical Cannabis licenses and provide opioid users and those addicted to opioids with recommendations. They will then follow up with patients gathering objective, measurable date that will: impact research, be published in academic journals and improve the quality of care received. Let's learn more about two vital members of the steering committee: the President, Travis Nelson and Vice President, Kyle Hill.

Travis Nelson, President of HEOE

Travis Nelson was born and raised on a ranch in Huerfano County, Colorado. He graduated from Colorado State University-Pueblo with a BS in Sociology as well as a Paralegal Certificate. After graduation, Travis worked as a paralegal for Catholic Charities in immigration law and as a paralegal contractor and investigator for the Colorado Alternate Defense Counsel.

Around ten years ago Travis received his medical Cannabis license for back injuries and chronic pain. Within four months he completely stopped taking his regular 90 Vicodin perscribed per month for over five years. Medical Cannabis stopped his dependance on narcotics for severe pain.

In 2014, Travis was one of the original founders of the Colorado Cannabis Growers Association and was elected to serve a five year term as the first
