CONFERENCE

Cannabis Nurses Network

Nurses have played a pivotal role in healthcare and delivery of care to patients, families, and communities since the 19th century. Most people associate Florence Nightingale and her Nightingale Principles to the formal beginning of the foundation of nursing practice. However, the knowledge of healing practices dates further back than the 19th century during a time in which families, friends, and neighbors with knowledge of healing practices cared for those in need.

Fast forward to the 21st century. A myriad of factors including pharmaceuticals, gentrification, industrialization, and politics created a change in healthcare services, delivery of care, patient rights and approach to care. Now more than ever, society beliefs and preferences are transitioning to alternative medicine and preventative care. This also stems from the all too familiar War on Drugs People.

Heather Manus founded the

Cannabis Nurses Network (CNN) in 2015 grounded in morals and principles of education, opportunity, recognition, and

advocacy. The

organization

supports plant

based science as

a means to

optimal health

and wellness. It

empowers nurses

to implement their plant based knowledge and diffuse it into their communities and knowledge of healing practices.

As cannabis laws continue to impact healthcare globally, patients now have access to cannabis plant products. This creates a need for healthcare professionals to be equipped with the knowledge to implement well educated and safe cannabis infused health practices.

CNN created the CNN Conference (CNNC)to supply the opportunity for health professionals to gain and improve the knowledge and skills that our communities and healthcare system are starting to demand.
