Hi! My name is Shanie Cognevich and I'm a wife and mother from New Orleans, Louisiana. In 2010, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and attached cyst that was so large it was blocking the spinal fluid going to my brain. I was told I needed emergency brain surgery to save my life. However, the life-saving surgery failed and instead of saving my life, I have been fighting for my life ever since. The surgery was botched. Instead of removing the tumor, the surgeon removed a portion of the back of my skull. Shortly after the surgery, I contracted a MRSA staph infection. This caused many complications requiring me to relearn how to walk, talk and complete activities of daily living.
After 2 years of trying to recover, I started to decline. I was given 6 months to live when I found out the original tumor was still in my head and had never been removed. Therefore, I needed immediate Gamma Knife radiation surgery. The aggressive surgery made little to no improvement. In 2014, I was completely bedridden, unable to do anything for myself. Prior to my surgery, I was very social and active in my kids life by volunteering at their school, being the team mom in sports and cooking for over 100 people for football games. I became so bedridden that I only left the house for doctor appointments. I suffered from daily pain that would cause me to faint, debilitating seizures, full body tremors, daily vomiting along with bruises covering my body from seizures. At one point, I sat down with my family to discuss my funeral arrangements because I truly did not think I would make it this far. My husband had to quit work to care for me 24/7; I couldn't even bath myself. A family friend suggested Cannabis oil because it was curing cancer and shrinking tumors. I was skeptical and in disbelief since I had never taken drugs before. But I was desperate for my life.
My transformation has been truly remarkable and it's all thanks to Cannabis; a plant, not pills. I am no longer bedridden. I am walking, talking and bathing myself on my own again. I have even regained some of my sight. I can go outside and embrace natures wonders again. Cannabis oil has even reversed the need for a hysterectomy (I had endometriosis and would bleed daily) and back surgery. It's controlling my symptoms of pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, scoliosis and degenerative disc disease. I still suffer from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from the failed surgery however, I have not taken any anti-depressants, just the Cannabis oil.
I started taking Cannabis oil to treat my brain tumor and cyst but in the process ended up treating many illnesses that I have battled with for years. I have treated my brain tumor, brain cyst, traumatic brain injury from the botched surgery, neuropathy, depression, anxiety, insomnia, eye disease and chronic migraines. I no longer have migraine headaches even after having a botched brain surgery. I use to have daily grand mal seizures and today I rarely ever have a seizure unless I'm extremely sick. I was trained by the Lighthouse for the Blind and had to learn braille. I now have enough vision to move around without my blind cane. Cannabis oil helped my cognitive abilities (I walk and talk without stuttering), blood pressure, eye pressure, and increased my immune system. After having a stroke, it got me walking within 2 weeks.
