I Am H.O.P.E.

My name is Zondra Moss. I am a wife, a mother and an advocate for individuals with disabilities and their families. In addition, I am a CBD/THC Supporter.

Hope has had many meanings throughout my life. I am quite amazed with how hope has shown up.

My daughter was born 10 pounds 6 ounces, 8 minutes

ounces. But 8 minutes during labor without oxygen to her brain led to her develop Cerebral Palsy. I laid on that delivery table alone listening to the team of doctors working in the corner to save her life. I had a conversation with the real doctor. I said, “Lord, if you let my baby live, no matter the obstacles, we will love her and take care of her”. God started her heart at 28 minutes.

The doctors said she wouldn’t live minutes and if she did live, she would be a vegetable. Today she is an 18 year old with so much personality.

Death or Cerebral Palsy? I choose Cerebral Palsy. Stress and isolation or love and hope? I choose love! I choose hope!

The stigma of having a child with a disability keeps parents ashamed or overly involved in making their child as “normal” as possible. This behavior creates isolation, produces additional stress and destroys relationships. I wanted...no, I needed a village to get me through the hour, the day, the weeks and the years following my daughter’s birth. My husband and I decided there must be others who desired that feeling of a village. so we created a grassroots 501c3 nonprofit Helping Outcomes for Parents of Exceptional children-H.O.P.E..These parents

didn’t choose their life journey, thewere chosen.

they were chosen.

Throughout the year, H.O.P.E. interacts with parents to address their child’s service needs, connecting to community resources, creating parent to parent
