And while the Rhododendron feeds our endocannabinoid system, it surprisingly enough rewards its pollinators as well, by introducing low concentrations of caffeine in their nectar, too low for honeybees to taste but still having a remarkable pharmacological effect on the bees. One that improved their memory for flower odors associated with food, making them more likely to return to and pollinate the plants providing caffeine as a reward.
