The property itself was a house situated in a compound with direct access to the beach which was not only convenient, but refreshing as well. Fresh fruits, eggs and toast with guava jelly was served every morning with coffee and bud. Lots of bud! We went on short tours to local attractions like the Mystic Waters, and the Little Dunn’s River Fall where we met her friends and they treated us right.

HotBox was an excellent place to stop and get a lay of the land and its people before heading to other destinations. I walked along the beach, explored the area, met a few of the neighbors, and watched the sunset and swam in the waters. I stayed here only a few nights this time, enjoying music and conversation and relaxing and planning for the adventures that lie ahead.

My next stop was Ocho Rios. Here I stayed at the Reggae Hostel. Now this was a really fun place. Ocho Rios itself is just big enough to walk through with many places to shop as it is a major hub for travelers and a place where the cruise ships dock to let out the tourists.

The Reggae Hostel however, is the place to be. It was a popular place where travelers can link up with others of all ages and nationalities. The rooftop lounge a nice place to chill and smoke the herb and enjoy the company of the other people. I stayed here only one night but from here, I traveled to the capital of Kingston to visit the the home of the Man himself, Robert Nesta Marley.
