CONTINUED... Having a personal trainer can be beneficial for those looking to begin changing their lifestyle and learning how to start in the gym. The key is finding the right trainer, and this can oftentimes be the hard part. A trainer does not need to last forever either. Some people enjoy having a trainer indefinitely and can afford it. If you find this motivates you and you can afford it this is not a bad idea. But realistically a trainer’s most important job is to show you the ropes and have you learn how to be able do things on your own. For those who may already be intermediate or advanced trainees in the gym and want a more affordable route, oftentimes a personal trainer is not the best option but a coach. Someone who can give you a proper map to be able to do things on your own. It would be like the personal trainer taught you how to drive the car (or use your body) and the coach now will be your GPS (or tell you the fastest most efficient route to get to your goals). A coach can help with routine programming, nutrition, supplementation, emotional support and much more. So next time you consider using a personal trainer, make sure to keep these 4 points in mind. You certainly do not want to be making such a large time and financial investment without getting the reward you deserve! 3
