DO YOU NEED A PERSONAL TRAINER? BY JUAN ROJAS How often have you found yourself signing up to a new gym and feeling like you have a gun pointed at your head as they offer you the “affordable, financed over 20 years, $20,000 personal training package?” Many people out there who are members at a gym might have been part of this scenario. For many years, I was the guy holding the gun at your head. I worked for many years as a sales member for a very prestigious gym in Ontario. The main goal from management was of course to have the highest possible sales for the gym. There are 2 approaches that can be taken by a sales agent. The majority focus purely on getting members to spend money even if this means tricking them into paying for something they don’t need. But the approach that I took was looking at what the client really needed and recommending a program that could potentially help them reach their goals faster. Weight training, whether your goal is to build muscle, lose fat, be strong, be more athletic or just feel better is an art.
