During his award presentation,
Jean remarked “I’m very
overwhelmed and grateful, I’d
like to thank Jim Manion and
Ron Hache for this beautiful
award. I’ve been trying to get
into the NB Sports Hall of
Fame for 17 years now;
however, getting this National
Award completely fulfills that
dream above and beyond my
expectations.”
Also in attendance Saturday
night was his wife Heather of
15 years, his friend and
partner 6x Mr Olympia 212
Champion Flex Lewis, the
National Physique Committee
and IFBB Pro League President
Jim Manion, and Mr. Ron
Haché, President of the
Canadian Physique Alliance.
Heather expressed her
gratitude in saying “This year, I
was overjoyed to hear that
Jean would finally be
recognized for all his hard
work and accomplishments
in bodybuilding. Jean
represents the old school
bodybuilding era and is
one of the true legends in
the sport. He gives so much
back to the sport and is
very humble and respectful
in the process.
“To have Jim Manion and
Ron Haché presenting this
award to him, it will be a
real honor for me to
witness.”
Since Jean’s retirement
from competitive
bodybuilding in 1994, Jean
has maintained an active
role in promoting the sport
and has shifted his interest
to helping evolve the sport
and inspire others to
compete. Promoting shows
since 2007, along with his
wife Heather, they also
judge both regionally and
internationally for the
Canadian Physique
Alliance and IFBB Pro
League.
Today, Jean’s entire life is
still surrounded by his
training schedule. There’s
no stopping him from
doing what he loves. Even
in the gym, he continues
to set goals and always
strives to be better than
he was yesterday. He
continues to train 5 days a
week, rising at 4:30 am,
training at 2-3 hour
intervals, eating clean
year-round just as he did
40 years ago. Jean’s
dedication still shows
physically and not many
can follow his disciplined
approach to living and
eating the same for 46
years.
