VITAMIN C
Vitamin C helps in the formation
and maintenance of collagen
which helps maintain the
tightness of the cells of our
digestive tract, supports the
absorption of iron, and also
supports the metabolism of
tryptophan to serotonin (one of
our ‘feel good’ chemicals – yes!
The majority of this
neurotransmitter is actually
made in the gut!). Vitamin C is
used in so many pathways in
the body, and being that it is
also a water-soluble vitamin, it
only lasts around 4 hours in the
body; so having foods or
supplements that contain
vitamin C should be taken
multiple times through the day.
Foods to include are broccoli,
strawberries, citrus fruit, and
red peppers!
