Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour auctioned
off 130 instruments, including some of his
most iconic guitars, at Christie’s in New York
on June 20, 2019. In total, the auction raised
$21,490,750 USD that Gilmour says will go to
ClientEarth, which funds environmental lawyers
and experts who combat climate change.
Included in the auction was Gilmour’s most
famous guitar, the customized “Black Strat”
he used on all Pink Floyd albums and tours
since the 1970s, which was bought by NFL
team owner Jim Irsay for a record-breaking
$3,975,000.

$464,755 was raised during
GORD BAMFORD & MAKE-A-WISH RECIPIENT ABBY
the Canadian country sing-
er’s 12 th annual Charity Golf
Classic, surpassing a fundraising milestone of over $4 million raised to date
for children’s charities across Canada.
Held in Red Deer, AB, in August 2019, the event also saw its first ever live
pledge drive that raised $76,000 for the featured charity, the Central Alberta
Child Advocacy Centre (CACAC).
“This event all started as a dream back in 2008, to support local charities
and children in central Alberta,” explains Bamford. “Over time, we’ve seen
the impact these monies can have to support groups such as the CACAC,
Make-A-Wish Foundation, MusiCounts, and countless other organizations
so they can fulfill their dreams. I am so proud of the support we’ve received
from donors, businesses, and friends and to keep hosting this event in my
home province.”
