Yamaha AvantGrand N3X Piano Yamaha has released the N3X, the company’s latest flagship Avant- Grand piano that now offers the experience of playing two of its most revered pianos: the Yamaha CFX concert grand piano and the Bösendorfer Imperial grand piano. The AvantGrand N3X is a follow up to the N3, which was introduced in 2009. The concept was to create a piano that had the same touch, tone, and artistic connection of the company’s most expensive and high-end 9-ft. concert grand piano at the time, the CFIIIS, but at a fraction of the cost, less than half the size, and without the need to tune. The AvantGrand N3X is updated to include ultra-accurate samples of the CFX (the successor to the CFIIIS) and Bösendorfer Imperial grand pianos. Four speakers are strategically located in the same positions as the four microphones used to sample the source instrument, while a flat-panel soundboard resonator reproduces the buildup of sound that a pianist hears and feels. A specialized pedal duplicates the sensation of a grand piano’s pedals. For more information, contact Yamaha Music Canada: 416-298-1311, FAX 416-292-1171, www.ca.yamaha.com.
