Red Bull Music Academy Announces Month-Long Montreal Program Red Bull Music Academy is heading to Montreal from Sept . 24 to Oct . 28 , 2016 , for what it calls an “ exploration of Canadian and international music culture ,” featuring events , club nights , performances , public lectures , and a special VR exhibition .
The Phi Centre , a multidisciplinary arts and culture hub , will serve as the home base for 70 hand-picked academy participants from 38 countries . Over the course of the month-long program , the Phi Centre will provide the infrastructure for the academy ’ s recording facilities , private lectures with musical luminaries , and RBMA Radio studio .
Some of the other events include a public discussion with Iggy Pop , a performance collaboration with Fucked Up and Tanya Tagaq , various techno , house , and EDM concerts , and digital label 1080p presenting shows by Tiga and Jacques Greene , among others .

Presented by the International Music Software Trade Association ( IMSTA ), IMSTA FESTA events are held annually in Toronto , Chicago , New York , and Los Angeles and showcase the latest music-making and production technologies alongside educational seminars , keynote speeches , and Q & As .
This free day-long event is open to all musicians , songwriters , music producers , and audio engineers , as well as music students and educators . Organizers say their aim is to host industry experts in an environment where music-makers can network , interact , and learn with them face-to-face .

Apple , Twitter & Reddit Founders to Speak at FUZEnation Tech & Music Summit Canada ’ s tech hub of Waterloo , ON will host the inaugural FUZEnation tech show and music summit that will unite leaders from both industries , according to organizers . From Sept . 27-30 , 2016 , FUZEnation will bring together famous entrepreneurs , computer programmers , gamers , robotics engineers , music and audio professionals , artificial intelligence inventors , virtual reality entrepreneurs , augmented reality innovators , and music enthusiasts from around the world .
FUZEnation ’ s keynote speakers will include Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak , Twitter and Jelly Co-Founder Biz Stone , and Reddit Co-Founder Alexis Ohanian . Also speaking will be turntablist , producer , and record label founder A-Trak .

BreakOut West Unveils Conference , Festival & WCMA Lineups The Western Canadian Music Alliance has announced the musical lineup for the 2016 BreakOut West Festival , taking place at 11 different venues in Regina , SK from Oct . 13-16 , 2016 . The BreakOut West Festival features emerging talent from western Canada in every genre . New in 2016 , many of the genre-specific artistic Western Canadian Music Awards ( WCMAs ) will be presented at the festival showcases .
The 14 th annual Western Canadian Music Awards gala is undergoing a format update this year , kicking off the BreakOut West weekend on Oct . 13 th instead of ending it , and rolling into a more concert-focused event with fewer award presentations and more music . Country artist Brett Kissel and blues icon Colin James will be this year ’ s headliners and James will also be this year ’ s Western Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee .
The conference portion of BreakOut West will include a conversation with Brett Kissel and Invictus Entertainment Group ’ s Louis O ’ Reilly . There will also be a series of Music Business Essentials panels and the FACTOR @ BOW2016 event will provide an opportunity for one-on-one meetings with FACTOR staff to talk programs , eligibility , and applications .
